One of the country’s car hire firms, Avis, has pledged to continue partnering Nation Publications Limited (NPL) in the Mother’s Fun Run (MFR) events.

NPL Mother’s Fun Run is the media house’s corporate social responsibility initiative that mobilises support for safe motherhood in the country. This year’s event took place last Saturday in Blantyre.

Avis Car Hire managing director Munir Omar said his company is proud to be part of the initiative since it feels it has to create social impact in the day-to-day activities of the society.

During Saturday’s Fun Run, Avis Car Hire contributed towards transportation, including a VIP chauffeur-driven service at the opening of the event.

This year’s Fun Run, which grossed a record K88 million, started at Mpemba Health Centre junction on the Blantyre-Chikwawa Road with runners completing the 12.5 kilometres first leg up to Delamere House in the heart of Blantyre central business district.

From there, British High Commissioner, Holly Tett, who was guest of honour, welcomed the runners and joined them on the second leg to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).
