She said: “I am very inspired and impressed by the progress that we’ve seen in the community, and the work that Care is doing to support community members, and women in particular women to increase their productivity of their farming and to also find ways of diversifying nutritional support for their families with small families.”

Nunn said her organisation is particularly happy that the interventions are enhancing the targeted communities’ capacity to withstand effects of climate change.

She pledged that Care US would explore possibilities for extension to the project timeline and also extend the interventions to other districts to ensure that more vulnerable and marginalised communities can benefit.

Farmer to farmer trainer (FFT) Alepha MacDonald said Care interventions are playing a crucial role in empowering women farmers through value chain market engagement.

MacDonald disclosed that through the Care projects, beneficiaries are learning and adopting water smart agriculture, which helps them realise bumper yield even in the event of dry spells and/or droughts.
