The Carlsberg brand, which has been in Malawi since 1968, will launch a limited edition label to celebrate Malawi’s 50 years of independence.
A press release from Carlsberg Malawi issued yesterday said to celebrate 50 years of independence with Carlsberg consumers, the company will launch a limited edition label that carries 50th anniversary celebration message in the month of July.
Twikale Chirwa, Senior Brands Manager at Carlsberg Malawi Limitedf said the limited 50 years edition pack will be available in all beer selling outlets across the country between July and August only.
Carlsberg Malawi was the first Carlsberg brewery to be established outside of Copenhagen, Denmark.
In addition, Carlsberg is now the official sponsor of Malawi’s national team, cementing the brand as firmly Malawian.
“Over the last 46 years, Carlsberg has built a rich brand heritage in Malawi. Carlsberg has been a part of many joyous occasions and celebrations. We want consumers to enjoy themselves as they celebrate the 50 years of independence, a milestone for all Malawians,” Chirwa added.
Aside from the limited edition label, Carlsberg will host a street party at the end of July in Lilongwe, along Independence Drive.
“The street party in Lilongwe will be the mother of all parties for the 50 years celebrations in the country. With this party Carlsberg celebrates the launch of Malawi National Team sponsorship as one of the landmark initiatives in 50 years, the Launch of Limited edition label for the national celebrations, and Malawi’s talent in traditional, local and urban music.” Chirwa said.
Carlsberg, first brewed in 1847, is big on heritage and having first been brewed in Malawi only four years after independence, in 1968, it is only fitting that the brand is part of the independence celebrations.
The 50 years celebration is a major part of our consumers’ experience and it is an event that certainly calls for a Carlsberg.
