Former principal secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Tressa Senzani who was jailed for nine months for theft and three years for money laundering has passed away this afternoon at Mwaiwathu Private
Hospital in Blantyre.

Senzani no more

Kachikho asked to be “left alone” before cutting the line.

Senzani, the first Cashgate suspect to be jailed since revelations of the plunder surfaced in September 2013, walked to freedom in October this year after the Malawi Prisons Service (MPS) curtailed her prison term on the grounds of good behaviour.

She was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on October 21, 2013 for alleged crimes on corruption after the bureau received a complaint alleging that government officers at Capital Hill were
making entries in the Integrated Financial Management System (Ifmis).

She pleaded guilty to misusing K63.5 million from government through her private company, Visual Impact and she was sentenced to nine months for theft and three years for money laundering to be served concurrently in October 2014. –More details will follow.
