Catering Solutions dresses up Moyale

Catering Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of the Sunbird Tourism, has donated sports uniforms worth over K600 000 to Moyale Barracks women’s team.

Speaking at a handover ceremony on Tuesday, Catering Solutions sales and marketing executive Ruth Nkhonjera said they decided to donate after being courted by Moyale Barracks.

“The commanding officer at Moyale told us that they had a challenge in supporting women’s football. They consulted us to help the team.

“Since we also provide meals at the barracks, we thought it wise to help before we extend the same gesture to other institutions in Mzuzu,” said Nkhonjera.

She promised to continue supporting the team to ensure it excels in the sport.

Moyale Barracks commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Elvis Mwase said most teams at the barracks are self-sustaining except the women’s side.

“The women’s team had challenges in terms of uniform. They would borrow those from other teams at the barracks. Sometimes they would use uniforms with different brands,” said Mwase, adding that the donation is worthwhile.

He also thanked Catering Solutions for the support they offer at the institution in various activities, including funerals.

National Women Football Committee (NWFC) chairperson Severia Chalira asked other institutions to emulate the gesture. She said women football rarely receives support as is the case with other sporting disciplines. n
