Catholic Church hosts sports games on Monday

Blantyre Archdiocese of the Catholic Church through its Amecea fundraising subcommittee has organised a fundraising social football and netball tournament this Monday at Saint Andrew’s International High School.

Proceeds from the event will go towards preparations for a conference from July 16 to 26 2014 in Lilongwe. The meeting will involve over 300 delegates from at least eight countries..

James Khoromana, Amecea organising committee member, yesterday said the football tournament will involve 16 social teams and eight for netball.

“The football games will be played seven-a-side and the first three winners for both football and netball will go away with trophies. Other awards are miniatures for top goalscorer, man-of–the-match for the finals and player of the tournament.

Football teams invited include Macra, Indebank and Masm. Netball teams include Masm, FMB and TNM.
