The pope says—in his special message on the day—that focusing on this context can help make communication more authentic and humane while helping believers to view the family in a new perspective.
“The experience of the relationship enables the family to become a setting in which the most basic form of communication, which is prayer, is handed down. We can draw inspiration from the Gospel passage which relates the visit of Mary to Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56,” says the pope.
He emphasises that an encounter between two people, so intimately related while still distinct from each other, is the first experience of communication.
Meanwhile, the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) communications officer Prince Henderson has said local Catholics are commemorating the day with a mass and other activities to be held at Mtima Woyera Parish, Lilongwe.
Henderson said ECM has invited a number of dignitaries, including Minister of Information, Kondwani Nankhumwa, ECM secretary general Father Henry Saindi, communication secretaries from all eight dioceses in the country, media managers from all Catholic media institutions, Misa Malawi, and editors from other media houses across the country.
“Catholic journalists will also take an active role in the proceedings of the day, including reading the word of God. The Archbishop of Lilongwe, Tarcisius Ziyaye is expected to be our main celebrant at the event,” he said.
Malawi Digital Migration officers are expected to mount a pavilion to provide a platform for people to understand more about digital migration, according to communication from ECM. n
