Roman Catholics through Charismatic Renewal Movement are intensifying charismatic prayers in the country.

The church took Blantyre and Chiradzulu by storm through prayers held in some parishes.

People were dumbfounded at the unusual happenings at the Catholic Institute (CI) Parish in Blantyre on Saturday night where some faithful wept from the Holy Spirit touch.

The prayers were led by Ugandan Catholic priest, Reverend Father Pius Pintu who is based in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Reverend Father Bernard Tiyesi, who assisted the visiting priest, said the prayers were meant to foster relationship with God.

“As Catholics, we believe its Jesus Christ himself who heals and not the power of man. We also believe in praying through the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues,” said Tiyesi.

The Charismatic Renewal Movement was established in Vatican in1968 for Christians to have good relationship with God.

It came to Africa in 1992.
