The Blantyre CCAP Synod, through its Women Desk, will hold the 2012 International Women Conference from December 17-20 at Multi Purpose Hall in Blantyre.

The conference, to be held under the theme ‘Women of Strong Faith, Our Call Today,’ will give women an opportunity to discuss issues that affect them.

Director of Women Desk in the synod Reverend Annie Kapinda said the conference is expected to attract over 50 women from other countries and 3 000 from within the synod.

“During these three days, we will discuss three key topics of women as co-creators, safe motherhood as well as gender-based violence and Aids.

“We have chosen these topics because they affect our daily lives,” said Kapinda.

She said international delegates, who are coming from 13 countries, are expected to arrive in Malawi on December 16.

Kapinda said the synod has printed a special cloth that is selling at K1 500 (about $4) per two metres.

The cloth is being sold at the synod offices in Blantyre.

The budget for the conference is about K11 million (about $33 333), but Kapinda said they have a shortfall of K2.5 million (about $7 575).
