CDH Investment Bank (CDHIB) and its group sister company Continental Asset Management (CAM) Limited jointly invested K8.3 million towards rehabilitation of Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) golf course.
Speaking during a golf tournament that was organised as part of the hand-over ceremony at BSC on Saturday, CDH chief investment banking officer Thoko Mkavea said K6.8 million went towards the erection of part of the fence on holes one and 10 while an additional K1.5 million was invested in reviving the look and feel of the t-boxes.
“We believe that the new fence has enhanced the look of our great club and the city [of Blantyre]. The contribution of the fence is a clear symbol of our commitment as a responsive corporate citizen of the City of Blantyre and of the BSC.
“We [also] repainted the benches, renovated the pathway to the starter shack. The signage that was on holes one and 10 was redone and repainted,” said Mkavea.

BSC golf captain Sam Mwale hailed CDHIB and CAM for the investment, saying the works have transformed the face of the club, in particular the course.
During the tournament played on stableford format, John-Gift Mwakhwawa and Diana Kambale emerged the winners in men and ladies’ categories, respectively.
Playing off handicap 13, Mwakhwawa had 39 points, pipping his runner-up Tarang Makhecha (h/c10) who had 38 points. He counted out Devlin Chokazinga (h/c17). Mwakhwawa received a trophy and K100 000 shopping voucher at IntoSports shop.
And after over two months of inactivity, Kambale (26h/c) bounced back into the course in style, winning the ladies category with   36 points. Doreen Kabvala (25h/c) was second with 31 points whereas Roza Mbilizi (10h/c) was third with 29 points.
“After being inactive for some time, it feels good to win. I have a solid swing and I was hitting it long, my putting was also complete,” said Kambale who was rewarded with a K100 000 shopping voucher and a trophy.
Mbilizi was nearest to the pin on hole 14 while immediate past ladies captain Connie Muguvu-Karuku had the longest drive on hole eight in ladies section. In the men’s category, Chokazinga was nearest to the pin on hole 12 while Donbell Mandala had the longest drive on hole 15. 
