Celebrating women!

I would like to wish all the women in Malawi a happy International Women’s Day, which we celebrated on Tuesday, March 8. I hope the celebration served to remind all of us of how special we are, of how far we have come and of the contributions that we have made to the progression of our families, societies, country and world.

I was pleasantly surprised to read from your editor’s note that some countries have actually set this day as a public holiday, which is celebrated in the same way that we celebrate Mother’s Day in October.

Is it not possible to have something similar in Malawi? As a women’s forum, I believe Every Woman can successfully organise fun International Women’s Day events that will make Malawian women feel appreciated.
