Centurion Guest House has increased sponsorship for the Lilongwe and Districts Darts League (LDDL) from K250 000 to K300 000.

LDDL announced the increase on Friday through their chairperson Joe Zangazanga who hailed the guest house for the gesture, saying it would go a long way in uplifting the sport.

Zangazanga said his league is proud to be associated with Centurion Guest House, describing its director Amos Tizola and his management team as supportive and passionate to darts.

The LDDL boss said the sponsor spares time to watch games for the Centurion Regional Trophy which positively changes the mood of games.

He further said that increased sponsorship is a good gesture, considering that the 2014 season will be the second season since the trophy was introduced.

Zangazanga pledged that the darts fraternity will repay Centurion for the gesture. Combat Support Battalion of Mvera was the first winners of Centurion Guest House Regional Trophy after outclassing Capital Glass in a final which was played at the guest house on October 5, 2013. The 2014 Centurion Regional Trophy kicks off on April 19, 2014.

Malawi was once a darts giant in southern Africa and hosted the 2001 Zone VI Darts Championship at the Comesa Hall in Blantyre.
