Chakwera speaks to Ramaphosa over airport delays
President Lazarus Chakwera’s press secretary Brian Banda has confirmed that the Malawi leader has spoken with his South African counterpart on his delays in the rainbow nation.
Banda told the media during the Weekly Brief that Chakwera spoke with Cyril Ramaphosa over the phone.
“The President has been talking to President Ramaphosa on the experiences he (Chakwera) had in South Africa,” Banda said.
When asked for details on the two leaders’ phone conversation regarding the delays that saw Chakwera leaving South Africa 7 hours behind schedule, Banda said: “we can not divulge more information on the president’s phone call.”
The President and his entourage were delayed at the Waterkloof Military Base airport as the South Africa authorities were demanding that Chakwera’s advance team should not fly out with the President.
