Chalulu, Ziyaad shine in F & M Motors Jnr Golf

Marcus Chalulu and Ziyaad Mussa ’s sheer quality on the golf course continues to shine like a flare.

Chalulu and Mussa emerged winners in 18 and nine-hole categories for boys, respectively while Matamando Kalima won the five-hole section at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) on Sunday.

Playing off 33 handicap (h/c), the 12-year-old Chalulu grossed 98 to earn a net of 62. His runner-up  Killian Mmangeni (36h/c) had 107 gross and registered net 71. Innocent Rodrick (24h/c) finished third with net 115.

In the girls category, Quassira Lambat (36h/c) won after registering 85 net. Her runner-up was Julian Rodrick (36h/c) with a 101 net score.

In the nine-hole boys category, six-year-old Ziyaad continued his dominance after claiming the first position with 65 net while Akuzike Kumsinda was his runner-up on 69 net. Brian MacTavish was third with net 70.

Hawa Rodrick was the winner in girls category followed by Talumba Ntaba whereas Lohan Siraj was third.

In the five-hole category, Josh Suzi-Banda was Kalima’s runner-up while Dan Vosloo Jnr was third.

F & M Motors general manager Mussa Lambat said they were proud to be associated with junior golf development.

“Last year we also sponsored a tournament and it is encouraging to note that the handicaps of the junior golfers have improved since then. We have seen a lot of Zone VI Golf Championship material.”

F & M Motors specialise in motor vehicle repairs, recovery and breakdown, among other services.

Southern Region Junior Golf Development Committee spokesperson and coach Dingaan Chirwa thanked F & M for sponsoring the monthly tournament.
