Print Care on Thursday donated 50 desks to Chambu Primary School in Lilongwe Rural West Education Division to reduce the school’s furniture shortage.

Chambu Primary School head teacher Agnes Kaphiza said the school’s 1 700 learners share 40 desks the school has been using for eight years.

Kaphiza also said that although her school has been fixing most of the broken desks the rate of wear and tear has been higher than the required resources.

Said Kaphiza: “We have been fixing the broken desks to minimise the need but to no avail. These 50 desks will reduce the pressure.”

Print Care general manager Gibson Likoswe, expressed the hope that the donation will help the learners find their way into Print Care as employees.

“If we collectively address the needs of these learners today, we are going to safeguard the country’s meaningful development path for it is these children who hold the future of our nation,” he said.

Chambu Primary School has high enrolment which leads to some classrooms to have 100 pupils instead of the recommended 60, a situation that makes it difficult for teachers to discharge their duties effectively, according to Kaphiza. n
