Chanco FC are struggling to combine studies with football having posted four straight losses to remain at the tail end of the Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division.
Chanco crumbled 3-2 to Prison United on Sunday. This was their fourth loss in a row during which they conceded eight goals and scored three. In contrast, their University of Malawi colleagues, Poly FC, have been performing relatively better with some wins and draws.
Up the table, White Eagles beat Tigers Reserve 4-0 in Blantyre on Saturday to go top on 25 points. They are two points behind second-placed Thondwe United and leaders Evirom who were on a Carlsberg Cup assignment on Saturday.
Evirom and Thondwe have 27 points each, but the latter failed to go top after losing 2-1 to Nchalo United on Sunday. Evirom’s Harold Zulu still leads the Golden Boot Award pursuit with 12 goals from 13 games.
