Off the heels of the 2015 Chanco Got Talent, Chancellor College Lens Art has extended the televised arts contest to other colleges of the University of Malawi under the banner Unima’s Got Talent.

Unima’s Got Talent publicity coordinator Danny Musiwa said the show is slated for end of April to September when the grand finale will be held.

He said the shows will start with open auditions in the three constituent colleges of the university followed by premier shows.

He said: “We are geared on putting on an impressive show that follows the 2015 Chanco Got Talent which was so inspiring. We expect to get more and diverse acts to audition for this year’s event.”

Stakes for the contest have been raised to a million kwacha from the K500 000 (about $737) which the winners received in the 2015 edition.

The organisers believe this will drive enough interest to all participants and probably position the contest as one of the best entertainment activities for college students.

Musiwa calls for the corporate world to support the initiative as he believes it is one of a kind, driven by the youth and easily a trendsetter.

“The corporate should be assured of an event that represents their position in their respective market fronts. Unima’s Got Talent is an initiative that will give the corporate value for their money and a guarantee for quality,” he said.

The maiden event was held between July and August 2015 with sponsorship from FDH Bank.

The dance group, Motion of Movement, were the ultimate winners. The event was beamed on Times Television. n
