The fiercely contested game was played in Zomba on Sunday at Chanco Sports Complex’s basketball court. Cobbe have themselves to blame for giving in to their opponents having led in all the three quarters.

“We lost the plot and complacency has cost us the game. We thought that we had got away with it. We had the better of our opponents but they came hard on us in the last quarter,” said one of Cobbe players, Obed Nyirongo, soon after the game.

The students trailed 10-23, 21-40 and 45-56, but managed to put their act together and took the game to the soldiers. Three-point shots from Noel Kalonga, Maxwell Selemani and Waza Phiri did the trick, especially in the last two quarters of the game.

Earlier on, Magang’a collected maximum points after Mikoko from Blantyre failed to show up for the game. n
