Chavula agent optimistic of foreign deal

Flames vice-captain Moses Chavula and his South African based agent Mike Makaab are optimistic the player will get a new foreign deal before the international transfer window closes next Friday.

Chavula is currently back in Malawi as he struggles to get a new team two months after being released by South African Premier Soccer League side Amazulu.

Makaab of Pro Sports Agency, who last week sent Chavula to Lebanon where he did not get a deal, said he is organising deals for him in Europe.

“He is back in Malawi to keep fit with the Flames because that training is best for him than to train on his own here in South Africa.

“We are processing visas for him to go to Europe in the next few days. But we are not under pressure because he is free agent and can sign anytime even after the closure of the window.

“He is a great player with good international track record and what happened at Amazulu was just unfortunate,” said Makaab in an e-mail on Thursday.

Chavula said he is ready to sign for any team in any country as long as his demands are met.

“But for now South Africa will be one of my last options. Playing that side is very tricky and frustrating.. Even if teams from Mozambique come up with good offers I will go. But again if all attempts fails then I will consider getting a local offer on temporary basis,” he said.

Chavula was regarded as a surplus at Amazulu in June as his three year contract was terminated after just one season.

He went to Lebanon last week but could not sign as the two teams that were targeting him wanted central defenders and not a left back.

He joined Amazulu last year after three season with Nathi Lions in the National First Division.
