Chawinga’s star continues to shine in Sweden

Malawi women football striker Tabitha Chawinga’s star continues to shine in Sweden’s second-tier women football league called Eltettan.

She is now the top scorer in the league, which her team Kvarnsveden IK leads by a three-point cushion.

Chawinga netted a double on Saturday when beating seventh-based hosts Sunnana 3-1 to go a point clear on 32 points from 13 games.

The former DD Sunshine striker now boasts of 15 goals in 13 games, one goal in front of Jalkenid of second-placed Djurgarden who have 29 points from 12 games.

Bollstanas are at the basement of the Dvision Two league on five points from 13 games.

She has set her target on bettering the 39 goals in 19 games she registered while playing for Swedish third tier side Krokom/Dvarsatts.

“If Kvarnsvedens IK would reach first or second place in the Elite-One League 2015, DD Sunshine will get a bonus of $2 000 (K2.5 million) paid out as soon as the league ends,” reads part of the agreement between the two clubs.
