Chibuku Products Limited (CPL) will on Saturday launch this year’s Road to Fame music competition, with Lucius Banda and Zembani Band performing at Lilongwe’s Dubai Tavern.

CPL marketing manager Timothy Sukali said the K12 million (about $30 000) competition will see the winning group taking home K300 000 (about $750) and arecording deal.

“The competition is here again this year and we look forward to it, as we unearth rare musical talent. Apart from recording the music, we will also promote it and the band will perform at our events,” said Sukali.

According to Sukali, the finals will be held in Mzuzu in June where second and third placed bands will get K200 000 (about $500) and K100 000 (about $250) respectively while nine other bands will get K50 000 (about $125) each.

“We are still in partnership with the Musicians’ Association of Malawi in this competition which we also conduct knowing that music plays a big role to entertain patrons in our outlets,” said Sukali.
