Chidale, Araujo win Optichem 2015 Invitational Golf tourney

Golfer Paul Chidale on Sunday braved the warm weather to be crowned champion of the Optichem 2015 Invitational Golf Tournament held at Thyolo Sports Club.

Chidale, who beat 47 other golfers, amassed 45 points to be crowned champion.

His performance was brilliant on holes 17 and eight respectively.

“I am grateful to Optichem for hosting the event because captains of industry clinch business deals in the process,” he said.

He challenged other golfers to work hard if they are to defeat him next year during a similar tournament.

A Mr J. Araujo came third and a Mr A Mehta second.

In the women’s category, Annes Araujo was crowned chmapion with banker Lilian Kawaza as her runner-up.

High Court Justice John Katsala awarded for his nearest to the pin and Kawaza had the longest hit in the ladies category.

General manager of Optichem, Bobby Singh, assured golfer for a comeback next year. He said his company is poised to continue sponsoring the event to promote the golf sport.
