Malawi’s sole professional golfer Paul Chidale is set to take to the Royal Swazi Sun Country Club golf course in Mbabane this morning for the Lombaard Classic pre-tournament qualifiers.
The tournament is part of the Sunshine Tour and this will be Chidale’s third attempt this year in his bid to make the grade on the international golf scene.
“I am set for the tournament. In the recent two tournaments that I participated [Zimbabwe Open and Zambia Sugar], I was able to qualify for the actual tournaments, but I could not make a cut,” he said.
“It has been a learning experience for me and I am getting there.”
Chidale is also hoping to take part in the Zambia Open at Nkana Golf Club early next month.
The three-handicapped golfer is ranked among the top golfers on the domestic scene and was nominated for the professional rank by the Golf Union of Malawi (GUoM). n
