Mhango was also accused of sending threatening messages to Airtel Malawi Limited public relations manager Edith Tsirizani.

In his ruling on Friday, first grade magistrate Boswell Kamphonda said based on the evidence before the court, Mhango is guilty of writing threatening messages to Tsirizani and impersonating Mkondiwa.

One of Mhango’s e-mails to Tsirizani, tendered in court as evidence, read: “Mark my words, in due course, you will die a regrettable death.”

The magistrate said he gave Mhango a suspended sentence because he had pleaded guilty to all offences; hence, saved the court’s time.

Mhango’s alleged accomplice, Gloria Mkwezalamba, has since pleaded not guilty and is awaiting her judgement.

Mhango has in the past impersonated several Nation Publications Limited (NPL) journalists besides swindling notable personalities in society, including former Cabinet minister Ken Kandodo.
