The leaders and their subjects have since formed a team, led by Catholic Development Commission (Cadecom), to champion the cause.

This follows strong winds and heavy rains that have started causing problems in various parts of the district.

“The team has already briefed people in traditional authorities (T/As) Kasisi and Maseya and plans are underway to do the same in Makhuwira area,” Chikwawa Cadecom disaster officer Montfort Chisale said.

Meanwhile, T/A Maseya has since asked government and development partners to construct dykes at Kalima, Misili and Namatchuwa areas. They said such interventions can protect people’s lives and property. n
