Malawi boxing official Daud Chikwanje has been appointed among the judges for the May 1 IBF Continental Africa super middleweight title between holder Francis Cheka and Thomas Mashali.

Both boxers are Tanzanians.

Chikwanje will join other judges Ismail Sekisambu (Uganda) and Steve Okumu (Kenya) in the fight at Dar es Salaam’s International Trade Fairs Ground (PTA Social Hall), according to IBF Africa president, Onesmo Ngowi.

“I am writing to officially inform you that you have been appointed as the ring officials to the IBF Continental Africa super middleweight title fight. Please contact all these persons so that you can arrange transport and accommodation to the tournament. I wish you all the best in your endeavours,” reads Ngowi’s letter to Chikwanje.

Ngowi, who is also Tanzanian, will supervise the fight whose referee is Zambian John Chipanuka.

Chikwanje is general secretary of Malawi Professional Boxing Committee.
