Child trafficker sentenced to 2 years imprisonment

The Blantyre Magistrate Court has this afternoon sentenced Mateyu Sali Kuchepa, 40, to two years imprisonment for each of the nine counts of child trafficking which he was answering.

Kuchepa will serve the sentence concurrently because the offences were committed as part of the same transaction.child-trafficking-sentencing

However, lawyer representing Kuchepa, Yasini Domasi of YD Attorney, has said the defence will make an appeal against the sentencing.

Kuchepa was answering nine counts of child trafficking following his arrest at Wenela Bus Depot in Blantyre last month after Blantyre Police arrested him as he was trying to take 21 children fromMozambique to work in tobacco estates in Mangochi.

  1. This is nothing! Can the judiciary please jack up the sentences? This guys deserve 5 years or more to send the right message. What is two years?
