Children from all walks of life on Saturday surprisingly took part in the Malawi Fashion Week street parade, organised in Lilongwe with the aim of sensitising people more about the inaugural event.

Held at the Game Car Park, the expo van was very attractive for many children, even those who had no idea of the event and therefore showed their modelling skills.

“We are happy with the way the event has ended. We have achieved what we intended to. All the 16 models to participate in the Malawi Fashion Week from May 30 to June 2 at the Presidents Hotel’s open arena also showcased their outfits.

“The surprise of the day was when children paraded on the runway. The idea was to give a platform to the young ones who harbour dreams of venturing into modelling,” said MFW public relations manager Hastings KimphoLoka.

He added that many people who attended the street parade were happy as they had their questions about Malawi Fashion Week answered.
