Chilemba’s opponent vows to die in the ring

Anthony Bellew, Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba’s opponent in this Saturday’s World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight final elimination fight slated for Liverpool Echo Arena has vowed to ‘die’ with his gloves on.

Bellow said this on Friday days after Chilemba arrived in Liverpool from the United States where he was training. He left his South Africa base last month ahead of the 12-round bout.

“Some people see this as a 50/50 fight, but in my eyes, I’m going to hurt [Chilemba] him. When I go into a boxing ring, I’m willing to die. Is he willing to go that far?” Bellow told UK’s Daily Mail.

The bout will also serve as a WBC silver title fight with the winner between the Malawian and the Englishman poised to eventually challenge WBC champion Chad Dawson.

But Chilemba insists that he is equal to the task in the fight which is being promoted by Matchroom Sport in association with DiBella Entertainment. SKY Sport will broadcast the match in the United Kingdom whereas Wealth TV will broadcast the bout in America.

“I have been waiting for an opportunity like this one for a long time. Bellow is a worthwhile opponent and I am not underestimating him,” he told www.doghouseboxing.com.
