Chilemba outclasses Lepikhin
The North American belt is travelling to South Africa.
Malawi born Isaac Chilemba (24-2-2, 10KOs) controlled all the action, what there was of it, in a ten round tilt at the Bell Centre in Montreal, scoring a unanimous decision over a reluctant Vasily Lepikhin (17-1, 9KOs), handing the Ukrainian fighter his first career loss.
After a fairly even second, Chilemba dominated the rest of the way, scoring a 100-90, 99-91, 99-91 victory and capturing the vacant NABF light-heavyweight title.
Chilemba landed a clean uppercut in round four and was able to fire off combinations and dance circles around an opponent with little or no interest in engaging.
Lepikhin waved his opponent forward in the 7th round, but even when he was in range, did little except lay on the ropes and did little to turn the fight around.
Chilemba was not overly busy, but was able to reach his opponent every round with little fear of reprisal.
