Malawi’s celebrated boxer Isaac Chilemba will undergo eight weeks of intensive training in Los Angeles, United States. The camp will be in preparation for his upcoming World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight title eliminator against Colombian Eleider Alvarez slated for November 28 in Quebec City, Canada.
Chilemba is scheduled to fly out to the US from his base in Johannesburg this morning.
“It will be eight weeks of intensive training so that by the time I proceed to Canada, I should be in shape,” said Chilemba.
The winner of the bout will get the right to challenge the current title holder Adonis Stevenson.
The 28-year-old Malawian pugilist boasts an enviable record of 24 wins (10 knockouts), two losses and two draws.
His last bout was against Russian Vasily Lipikhin on March 14 this year in a North America Boxing Federation (NABF) which he won on unanimous points decision. n
