Chilima should now inspect K500 million Nkhata Bay bus depot

We are extremely saddened by the deaths of three prominent Malawians: George T. Banda, Sinyaza Banda and Sam Mpasu Biyeni.  On our behalf our leader of delegation, the Most Excellent Grand Achiever Prof. Abiti Joyce Befu, MG 66, sends our heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed and to the Malawi nation.

She equally condoles the people of Zimbabwe on the loss of their only genuine leader of the opposition, Morgan Tsvangirai, the man who reminded Zimbabweans and world citizens about the values of democracy.

On a happier note, our leader of delegation is sending her belated Valentine wishes to the people of South Africa in general and the leadership of the African National Congress (ANC) in particular, for politely and resolutely telling Jacob Zuma to leave office or face the embarrassment of being impeached.

In her congratulatory epistle to the new president, comrade Cyril Ramaphosa, Professor Befu reminded him and the people of South Africa to learn from the rise and fall of Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma that the people of South Africa want jobs and money. They hate corruption and state capture. That someone participated in the liberation struggle is not a qualification to keep him or her in power.

What has happened in South Africa should tell African leaders that Africans can easily recall a president.  They can do it with the help of the army. It happened in Zimbabwe to oust Gabriel Mugabe.  Or the party structures as it happened to Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma in South Africa.  A president can also be recalled with divine intervention as it happened to Bingu wa Mutharika in Malawi and Michael Sata in Zambia. It can also happen through street protests as it happened to Bakili Muluzi in Malawi.

It can happen and it will happen. As long as the people feel disgruntled, dictators shall never find peace.

We are about to ask our comrades in street protests to march against suspected abuse of national resource in Nkhata Bay.  However, before we embark on that, we have decided to invite Vice-President Saulos Klaus Chilima to, first drive through the M5 road, the once famous Kamuzu Great Lakeshore Road from Balaka Market through Golomoti, Salima, Nkhota Kota and Nkhata Bay before inspecting the Nkhata Bay Bus Depot.

The Vice-President should be accompanied by property valuers. We will protest if the independent valuers convince our no nonsense Vice-President that the bus depot, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa opened recently, is indeed worth K470 million.
