Chilomoni Township in Blantyre hosts a potentially exciting fundraising four-kilometre bicycle and foot race next month, courtesy of Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise.

The hosts have since called for sponsors to support teams comprising of four cyclists.

The teams will use time-trialled original Royal Mail bicycles to race on unpaved roads up to the finish line—the enterprise’s offices in Chilomoni.

“All proceeds raised at this event will go towards funding places for orphans and vulnerable children in the Mother Teresa Children’s Centre in Chilomoni which is part of the Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise, a not-for-profit organisation,” reads a statement about the event.

At the end of the race, the bicycles become the property of the sponsor, but “in keeping with the nature of the event, we recommend that the bikes be used as donations to a charitable cause in and around the township of Chilomoni, ensuring that long after The Chilomoni Bike Chase has ended, the wheels will still be turning and the positive effects felt.”

Those interested in sponsoring the event can do so through contacting the organisers on info@beehivemalawi.com
