Chilomoni murder suspect arrested
Çhilomoni Police in Blantyre have arrested 19-year old Christopher Khumalo on suspicion that he killed Dyson Mjojo whose death on June 21 this year resulted in the torching of Chilomoni Sub Station by angry Chilomoni residents.
The fracas and torching of the sub-station started after family members and other Chilomoni residents thought the deceased was murdered by two newly recruited police officers who had earlier on picked a quarrel with Mjojo at a drinking joint in the area.
Blantyre Police Station deputy spokesperson Grace Mwale said the suspect, who has since confessed to killing Mjojo, will answer two charges of murder and robbery with violence contrary to sections 209 and 301 of the Penal Code respectively.
The suspect will also answer the charge of escaping from lawful custody at Mitsidi Police Unit after he was arrested for another offence of robbery with violence.
