Simama Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Premier League champions Chilumba Barracks wrapped up their campaign in style after thrashing Kafukule 7-2 on Sunday.

They have finished the league 12 points clear as they look forward to a new lease of life in the elite TNM Super League.

Wisman Mabuluka, Matifeyo Nyirenda, Collen Kulambe and Sunganani Matiko were on target for the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) side whereas Gomezgani Ndlovu and Godfrey Tembo scored for Kafukule.

NRFA has awarded Chilumba another three points after finding Mchengautuwa United in the wrong in their league game that was abandoned a fortnight ago.

This was after Mchengautuwa rejected a referee from Rumphi who was assigned to officiate the game.

However, Mchengautuwa have said they will challenge the ruling.

With the three points awarded, Chilumba has finished the league with 89 points from 34 games, having won 23 games, drawn five and lost only once to runners-up Karonga United who finished with 77 points. n
