To drill the two teams with Mkorongo: Chimodzi

Former Flames assistant coach Young Chimodzi and ex -women national football coach Tom Mkorongo have been hired to further drill Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF) and Matindi Girls Academy in the final phase of their preparation for the Airtel Rising Stars Africa Championship to be held in Nigeria.

Airtel Malawi’s brands and communication manager Isabel Kachinjika announced the development yesterday.

“Last year, we did not organise camp training, but this time, we are living no stone unturned to ensure that both teams do well at the tournament. We have engaged Messrs. Chimodzi and Mkorongo to drill JBF and Matindi Girls respectively,” said Kachinjika.

She also appealed to the nation to rally behind the two teams since they will also be carrying the country’s flag at the schools’ continental competition.

Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) general secretary Blackson Malamula said Chimodzi and Mkorongo’s vital experience will be essential for preparing the two teams.

“During the non-residential training held in Blantyre, JBF were drilled by Jack Chamangwana with the assistance of Trevor Kajawa and now Chimodzi will continue from where they stopped while Mkorongo will assist Matindi’s coach Maggie Chombo-Sidiki,” said Malamula.
