Speaking when he officially received the equipment, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe said these solar panels have been provided as part of a technical cooperation agreement signed in December 2014.

“These mobile solar power systems are being provided to Malawi at a value of K738 million and the mobile solar power systems have already been delivered to the warehouses of ministries of Health and Education, Science and Technology,” said Gondwe.

The minister, therefore, called on the beneficiary ministries to make sure that the solar power systems are delivered where they are needed to serve the population that has to be served.

On his part, Chinese Ambassador Zhang Qingyang said the equipment will generate electricity in the schools and clinics for reliving the power shortage in rural areas—Mana
