‘China-Malawi military relations satisfying’

Defence attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Malawi Senior Colonel Zhao Weili has observed that military relations between the two countries have shown good progress from the time diplomatic ties were established.

Speaking in Lilongwe on Thursday at a reception marking the 90th anniversary of the Armed Forces Day of the People’s Republic of China which falls on August 1, Zhao said Malawi and China are deepening the mutual understanding and trust and conducting exchanges and cooperation in all fields.

“China attaches great importance to the military relations with Malawi and is willing to make joint efforts with Malawi and push the bilateral military relations to a new height,” he said.

Zhao added that in his country, comprehensive defence and military reform has been carried out to realise the Chinese dream of great national rejuvenation.

“We safeguard and promote world peace through our own development,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Defence Everton Chimulirenji saluted the military relations between Malawi and China, that Malawian soldiers are benefiting a lot from the cooperation.

August 1 is known as the Armed Forces Day in China, saying after the Communist Party of China (CPC) launched an armed uprising in Nanchang to strive for national independence and people’s liberation in 1927. n
