Chinthenga to face TZ boxer Saturday

Local top lightweight boxer Kenneth Chinthenga will face Tanzanian Allan Kamote in a non-title eight-round professional bout Saturday evening at Nyasi Village Hotel in Karonga, near Songwe Border Post.

The bout has been organised by Ndamyo Kalinga Nyasi Village Boxing Promotions.

The Tanga-based Kamote (17-5-4) last fought a Malawian boxer in February this year, when he lost to Osgood Kayuni on points under controversial circumstances at Motel Paradise in Blantyre.

Even home fans disagreed with the verdict that declared Kayuni as the winner on majority points.

“Boxing fans in Karonga should brace for an entertaining bout as both are good boxers. There will be other supporting bouts, but the main fight will start at 8pm,” said Kalinga.

He said both boxers have intensified their preparations for the bout.

Kalinga also said they are expecting National Professional Boxing Committee (NPBC) chairperson Lonzoe ‘Defector’ Zimba to grace the event.

Chinthenga has a record of six wins, two losses and no draw.
