The Northern Region Women Football (NRWFC) Presidential Cup finals between Ekwendeni FC of Mzimba and Chinyolo of Rumphi are on this Saturday at Chibavi ground in Mzuzu, according to NRWFC executive member Helen Chavura.

“We are asking soccer fans to come in their large numbers to support and motivate the teams so that they give out their best,” said Chavura.

Ekwendeni reached the finals after beating Karonga Medicals whereas Chinyolo beat regional perennial champions Kwaito.

Coach for Chinyolo Christopher Mponda and his captain Sofaya Mayuni have said they are ready for the battle and are hopeful of taking the cup to Rumphi.

But Ekwendeni, too, said they are prepared to take it to Mzimba.

Meanwhile, Kwaito FC have said they are expecting the finals to be postponed because they have lodged a complaint at national level after not being satisfied with the verdict passed by the NRWFC disciplinary committee which threw them out of the competition.

Kwaito claim that Chinyolo flouted the rules by alleging that their counterparts used cup-tied players. Kwaito failed to substantiate claims; hence, lost the case.

But Chavura said on Tuesday that the verdict was final and they will proceed with the finals.
