Chiotcha: This is a big opportunity

The Malawi Defence Force (MDF) boxer said: “This is a big opportunity for me to sell my brand abroad. I will do everything possible to win the bout so as to impress international promoters, who can organise more fights for me.”

Currently, Chiotcha is in the process of enhancing his weight from 66 kilogrammes to around 76 kilogrammes to be within the middleweight bracket.

“I will achieve this because I have more than a month to prepare for this fight,” said the Lilongwe-based Chiotcha, who plans to camp in Zomba.

The 28-year-old has 20 fights; recording 15 wins and five losses.

According to boxing website, www.boxrec.com, Chiotcha’s 31-year-old opponent has fought 24 times; winning most of them by way of knockout.

Kosovo-based firm Sh&Sh Promotions has organised the bout and Chiotcha was identified by Tanzania-based promoter Emmanuel Mlundwa through local match-maker Steven Msiska.

Msiska told The Nation that Chiotcha has already signed the contract as he said: “It is a done deal; we are just waiting for the day to come.” n
