Newly crowned welterweight boxer Chimwemwe Chiotcha will now face a Ugandan opponent Medi Sebiyala instead of Ghanian Daniel Sopwah as initially arranged.

Organisers of the fight, Intersport International Promotions, announced the change on Wednesday night at Mount Zion Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

The two will battle for an Africa Boxing Union (ABU) title at the MTN Lugogo Arena in Kampala on February, 28.

The launch of several fights organised by Intersport was beamed by NBStv which recently signed a major sports deal with Intersport.

During the ceremony, Uganda heavyweights Kenneth Odeke and Hudson Muhumuza, who will fight for a national title on the same day, had to be separated by the organisers after they lunged at each other.

In other fights, Edward Kakembo and Raymond Ssentongo face each other for a national super bantamweight title. In the super welterweight category, Badru Lusambya will fight against Saidi Yazidi while Juma Waiswa will face Patrick Atuhairwe in a non-title fight.

But the main fight will be the one between Chiotcha and Sebiyala.

Meanwhile, the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has given consent to Chiotcha to travel to Kampala on February 23.

Chiotcha will be accompanied by fellow MDF boxer Alick Mwenda and his trainer retired lieutenant colonel Godfrey Jalare.
