Celebrated rapper Tay Grin has asked his fans to vote for his new hit Chipapapa to move up the ladder on DStv Trace Urban channel music chart.
Chipapapa, which features Nigeria’s singer 2Baba, is currently on position three for the past three weeks on the chart called Top 10 African Songs.
“I ask all my fans to keep voting for my song so that we get it on position one of the music chart,” said Tay Grin in Mzuzu.
Born Limbani Kalilani, the Nyau King as he loves to be called, is promoting the song with gigs in the country and abroad. Video of the song has cost him K5.5 million (about $ 8 600).
Recently, he performed at Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Social Weekend where the song attracted overwhelming response. He was forced to perform it four times, and the patrons just needed more of it.
“I will be holding various shows across the country to promote the song. My performance in Mzuzu is an encouragement as it appears most people are in love with the song,” said Tay Grin.
He said the video’s appearance on Trace channel is a breakthrough for Malawian music.
“It means we are progressing as a country because it’s a big achievement to be on such an international chart,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tay Grin plans of releasing another song in the next week.
The song features the Tsika star Sonye and a Nigerian Orezi.
