Chipuwa, Kaipa out for two weeks

Mighty Wanderers first-choice goalkeeper Richard Chipuwa and defender Bongani Kaipa will be out of action for two weeks due to injuries.

Wanderers’ team manager Chiyembekezo Zidana confirmed the news on Wednesday.

Chipuwa and Kaipa sustained injuries during their Super League match against Epac FC on Sunday at Silver Stadium that ended in 1-1 draw.

Chipuwa, who was influential in Wanderers’ victory in the Standard Bank Knockout Trophy, dislocated a finger during a goalmouth scramble.

Kaipa suffered an ankle injury and was replaced by Allan Kamanga.

“It is a setback but not a blow. We always anticipate such things to happen in football, that is why we sign many players,” said Zidana.

The absence of the two players saw Mighty Wanderers suffer a first defeat in eight games when they lost 1-0 to Blue Eagles on Mother’s Day at Nankhaka ground.

Gerald Chimbaka has also been ruled out of this Saturday’s game because of illness.
