In his remarks, station officer for Chiradzulu Police Berlington Kamwagha advised people against punishing suspects on their own.

“We are proud of your good work of providing security, [but] avoid punishing the suspects by either harming or killing them. Instead, bring them before the police for investigations,” he said.

The messages on the day were spiced up with a football match between Chiradzulu Police Football Club and Kanje Football Club as a way of cementing relations between the police and the community.

Speaking at the function, station coordinator for community policing Kingsley Mvuthe thanked communities in T/A Likoswe for helping to reduce crime in their area.

“We are glad that currently the rate of havocs has reduced. All this has happened following the good relations between the people here and the police,” said Mvuthe.

Meanwhile, Kanje Business Committee—through its chairperson Alphat Mtopwa—donated 10 head torches and two dozens batteries to Likoswe Community Policing Forum to help improve patrols.
