Chitipa demand K1m for top striker

Chitipa United FC is demanding K1 million development fee from Moyale Barracks FC for their want-out forward Abel Mwakilama.
The 19-year-old striker has impressed Moyale technical panel after joining the club’s pre-season training early this month.
Chitipa United team manager Germany Nkhata said they have made the offer to the Malawi Defence Force side.

“We discussed the matter with Moyale officials last Sunday. It is good that we should not block the player’s wish to play for Moyale. But looking at what we have invested in him, we want a development fee of K1 million,” he said.

“Even with the K1 million, we are still on the losing side because he was our star–he had unfinished business with us,” said Nkhata.
Moyale Barracks team manager Gerald Kanje said the club’s executive will discuss the issue.

“Of course, the K1 million is on the higher side, but still more, the executive will discuss how much can be made available for the development fee,” he said.
Mwakilama was influential in Chitipa’s promotion to the Super League.

He won the 2016 Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Simama Premier League golden boot with 37 goals.
