Chiukepo, Bokosi tie at 13 goals

Big Bullets hitman Chiukepo Msowoya and Red Lions striker Innocent Bokosi are now tied at 13 goals apiece after the People’s Team striker scored a brace in the champions designate’s 2-0 victory over Fisd Wizard at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.

Following the win, Bullets have taken their tally to 63 points from 27 games—16 points ahead of second-placed Mafco who have also played the same number of games.

The poorly-attended TNM Super League encounter was marred by a heavy downpour in the first half.

Scored both goals for Bullets: Chiukepo

With both sides’ fate already sealed, the match was more of a formality.

But Bullets, though already champions, approached the game seriously maybe because of the presence of their sponsors Nyasa Manufacturing Company’s (NMC) management.

Fisd, who already punched a one-way ticket back to the lower league, showed no urgency to dish out their best.

The first half was a drab affair with both sides seemingly indifferent of the need to entertain the few spectators that braved the rain.

Apart from a few moments of individual brilliance, the first half left many frowning upon the two sides.

Wizards goalkeeper Brighton Munthali was the busiest player as he was called to duty a couple of times.

He had to halt Bullets thrice stopping McFarlen Mgwira, Chiukepo Msowoya shots and Yamikani Fodya free kick.

But in 76th minute, just after the rains died down, Msowoya made a difference with his lethal head guiding in substitute Ian Chinyama cross that beat Wizards ‘keeper Munthali.

Msowoya doubled the lead from the spot kick in 89th minute after Andy Kuseli gave a penalty following a Dennis Chembezi foul on the former Orlando Pirates forward in the box.

Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmael said the victory was hardly-fought.

“Fisd are not a small team. They are young, determined and skillfull. We had to be carefull in first half,” he said.

Wizards technical director Peter Mponda said his charges failed to ultilise the chances they created in the first half. n
