Flames and Escom United burly forward Chiukepo Msowoya has signed a one-year contract with Mozambican national champions Maxaquene.

Broker of the deal James Nelito Pondomale of Intersport Mozambique confirmed the development on Monday.

However, Pondomale said Chiukepo will not be part of the team’s CAF Champions League squad as the registration process was finalised before he put pen to paper.

“Chiukepo is happy with what has been offered to him. He will be paid a considerable signing-on fee. He will also be provided with a furnished flat,” said Pondomale.

Asked whether the player’s contractual dispute with Escom United had been sorted out, Pondomale said: “We left it in the hands of the player and Escom’s chairperson [Fanuel Nkhono] to sort out the issue.

“Apparently, Chiukepo gave us an assurance that the issue was a closed chapter, so we do not anticipate any problems.”

However, Nkhono insisted that they are hoping to get something from the deal.

“We invested in him and need a return certainly,” he said.
