Nyasa Big Bullets forward Chiukepo Msowoya is the favourite to win the TNM Super League Golden Boot Award as his closest contender Gastin Somkonda’s team, Moyale Barracks, has wound up its fixtures.Chiukepo leads the scorers chart with 16 goals, one ahead of Simkonda.

Keeping his fingers crossed: Chiukepo

The People’s Team’s burly forward has a chance to increase his tally if he can score in Bullets’ remaining games against Silver Strikers and Civil Sporting Club tomorrow and Monday, respectively.

“I am hoping that I can score more goals in the remaining games because even though Gastin is out of the race, there are others that can overtake me.“I just need to be focused,” said Chiukepo in an interview on Sunday.

The other player who has a realistic chance of contending for the award is Kasungu-based rookies TN Stars’ forward Stain Dave who has scored 13 goals.

TN Stars’ last match will be against Be Forward Wanderers in Kasungu tomorrow. On his part, Dave said: “It is possible I just have to believe in myself, but what is more important to me is that I helped my team survive relegation in only our first season in the Super League.

”Nomads’ Zicco Mkanda and Silver’s Ghanaian forward Mike Tetteh, who have scored eleven goals apiece, also stand an outside chance. Civil Sporting Club’s Raphael Phiri also has 11 goals but will miss his team’s last game against Bullets due to an injury.
