Chiwogoro Apiaries Limited (CAL) celebrated New Year’s Day by donating honey and banana fruits worth K80 000 (about $242) to 61 patients at Ekwendeni Mission Hospital.

Speaking when he donated the items to patients, CAL director Washere Mweso said they were fulfilling their social responsibility to give back to society.

Said Mweso:  “As a honey processing and packaging company, we are grateful to God for the successes we have achieved and on this New Year’s Day, we thought it necessary to give back the little we have to the sick and the poor.”

Hospital matron Esther Kawerama and principal administrator Jeffrey Mwala thanked CAL for the items, saying honey speeds up patients’ healing process, especially for those with burns and ulcers.

One of the guardians, Edith Phiri thanked CAL for the items.
